IT'S NEVER TOO SOON TO START THINKING ABOUT NUTCRACKER!

The South Carolina Dance Season opens the 2011-2012 season with The Nutcracker Ballet which will be performed at the new Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center in downtown Florence. Opening night is Friday, December 9th, with a performance at 8:00 pm. There will be two performances on Saturday, December 10th, with a matinee at 3:00 pm and an evening performance at 8:00 pm. The show closes on Sunday, December 11th, with a matinee at 3:00 pm.

Season membership packages are currently available and provide the best options for purchasing tickets. These memberships include invitations to Opening Night Galas, sponsorship  listings in our program and  tickets for Nutcracker and our Spring production, The Sleeping Beauty.  The best value for purchasing tickets is through season subscriptions. Additionally, the SCDT will pay the $3.00 per ticket fee which is assessed by the FMU Performing Arts Center on each ticket that is sold.

There are three seating tiers in the new facility and ticket prices vary with each tier. Adult prices are $30/$25/$20 and all student tickets, regardless of the tier, are $15.00. The PAC is a beautiful state of the art facility and the SCDT is excited to present The Nutcracker in such a perfect venue.

More details will be forthcoming about the production but another date you will want to put on your calendar is the Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Party on Saturday, December 3, 2011. This event, which has become a popular part of the Holiday season, will be held again at All Saints in the all purpose building. Dancers in costumes, games, activities and a Holiday spirit will be the perfect beginning of the December month.
